Bagenalstowns cricketers second eleven squad continued their unbeaten run
with an easy victory over Civil Service at McGrath park last Saturday.

One of the clubs targets this year is to win the Leinster Junior C league
and it's a case of 'so far so good', with 5 wins out of 5. Winning the toss,
team captain Clive Foot somewhat surprisingly put the Dubliners in to bat.
Civil Service were dismissed for 81 runs very quickly and with rain about
the Carlow squad were keen to wrap things up early. Julian Charles and
Thomas Butler took 3 wickets apiece, for 14 runs and 18 runs respectively.
Butler semed particularly agrieved when two difficult catching chances were
missed by the wicket keeper, but regained his composure by clean bowling
both the batmsen within 3 deliveries. Other successful bowlers were Michael
Dick, who took 2 wickets for 33 runs, Howard McDonnell 1 for 11 and Sunil
Charles 1 for 2.

An early tea was taken and on resumption of play, with rain in the air,
Philip Deacon and Sunil Charles opened the batting with purpose, having a
good stand of 41. This set the basis for a comfortable win. Deacon finished
with top score of 49 and Charles 15. A couple of quick wickets fell to give
Civil Service some solace but 'Town had a comfortable 7 wicket win.
