The home side batted first and were well contained to 134 runs. At the 20 over mark a
large run chase looked on for the 'Town as Railway were 79 runs for 3
wickets, this being the half way stage. However some concentrated bowling
and fielding saw only another 55 runs added and all wickets lost at the
close of play in this 40 over event.

All bowlers played their part, keeping the runs down and taking vital
wickets. Michael Dick took 2 wickets for 23 runs, Sunil Charles 2 for 24,
Thomas Butler 2 for 25, Julian Charles 4 for 17, Tomas Dowling 0 for 23 and
Howard McDonnell 0 for 21. Julian Charles and Butler showed their years of
experience in bowling the final 18 overs for just 42 runs.

Steady batting saw the 'Town home for the loss of 3 wickets. Dowling carried
his bat, making 59 not out. Helped by patient innings by Sean Farrell with
17 runs, Clive Foot 17 and Philip Deacon also 17 saw the Carlow side over
the winning line with 3 overs to spare.
